Jessi began her career in veterinary medicine in 2007, working in both emergency and day practice facilities. She graduated from Oklahoma State University–OKC in 2010 with an Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology and is a nationally and state-licensed Registered Veterinary Technician.

While working in veterinary medicine, Jessi became fascinated by both human and animal behavior. After seeing how anxious and fearful many patients could be, she became passionate about helping families prevent behavior problems before they started. That passion eventually led her from veterinary medicine into dog training, where she could focus on education, prevention, and helping people better understand their dogs.

​

In 2011, Jessi began teaching Puppy Pre-K and Basic Obedience classes. She continued advancing her education by graduating as a Certified Training Partner through the Karen Pryor Academy in 2014 and founded ROC Animal Training and Behavior the following year.

​

Jessi's passion is helping families build stronger, happier relationships with their dogs. She is a proud member of the Society of Veterinary Behavior Technicians, the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, and the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. She is also a Certified Family Dog Mediator, AKC Canine Good Citizen and ATT Evaluator, Fetch Judge, and Certified Trick Dog Instructor with Do More With Your Dog.

Additionally, Jessi has completed the Master Course in Aggression in Dogs by Michael Shikashio and regularly attends continuing education courses, seminars, and conferences to stay current and continue growing as a professional.

​

Outside of training, Jessi is a busy mom of three who understands the challenges of balancing family life, work, and dog training. She competes in multiple dog sports, with several of her dogs earning national invitations and top rankings over the years. Her current pack includes Chaos (Australian Shepherd), Spryte (Australian Cattle Dog), Nyx (Doberman), and Soda Pop (Golden Retriever), who is her daughter's Junior Handler dog.

When she's not training dogs, Jessi loves spending time outdoors with her family. Whether they're hiking, paddle boarding, competing in dog sports, or just exploring somewhere new, she believes life is better when dogs get to be part of the adventure.

Why “ROC Animal Training”?

ROC stands for "Right On Click," a nod to Jessi's love of clicker training and her belief that training should be both enjoyable and meaningful for dogs and the people who love them.

​

The name also honors Jett Roc, Jessi's heart dog and the inspiration behind ROC Animal Training. Jett was by her side from the very beginning, including attending the Karen Pryor Academy with her. His enthusiasm, trust, and unwavering partnership helped shape the trainer Jessi is today and continue to influence her philosophy of building strong relationships between dogs and their families.

After Jett's passing in January 2021, Colt carried that legacy forward. He was Jessi's partner in training, adventure, and competition until his passing from Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) in August 2024.

​

Today, the spirit of both Jett and Colt lives on in every family Jessi helps and in every dog who trains with ROC Animal Training.
